Cropped to Death

A Faith Hunter Scrap This Mystery (#1)
Christina Freeburn

Faith Hunter has moved back home after a disastrous career in the Army (according to her). Now she is now back home, working for her grandmothers store, Scrap This. Her grandmothers want her to settled, married and happy. Faith would like to forget the past, not let it affect her present and make Scrap This a successful store for her grandmothers. Unfortunately, one of the employees have been accused of murdering her soon to be ex husband. The detective in charge is new to small town life and does not want Faith involved in the investigation. Life is a mess!

The book is a good cozy mystery. I do wish that the author brought the backstory to the fore front sooner. I did not like the teasers of the backstory. I think people will enjoy this book. A good read!!!

Pop Out and Paint

Pop-Out & Paint Farm Animals
Cindy A. Littlefield

This is a great book for children and parents or students and teachers to work on together. So many teachers use these animals for their themes at school. Rather than buying the animals, this would be a great back to school activity and the teachers could put them out when the student is the person of the week. It would be a great highlight.

Ms. Littlefield did a great job in putting this book together and providing all of the necessary information in doing a good job with the animals.

Deadly Animals

Deadly Adorable Animals

Children’s Non Fiction
This a great book to read to students prior to going to the circus or zoo. The reason is that these animals are so cute that we forget that they can be dangerous. We need to remind out children about the dangers of animals and , while they are great part of world, they are not humans. Sometimes even adults forget this fact.

Great Book!

An Elliott Lisbon Mystery (#1)
Kendel Lynn

Elliott Lisbon is the director of the Ballantyne Foundation on Sea Pine Island, SC. In addition to her other responsibilities for the foundation, she makes discreet inquiries for Foundation donors, which are no more serious than checking on minor mishaps of the board of directors and keeping their names from receiving bad publicity that will reflect on the foundation. That is until Jane Hatting, Ballantyne board chair, is accused of murder. The Ballantyne’s already suspect reputation become worse, Jane is headed to a jail, and Elliott’s sexy ex, a man she has not seen for over 20 years, is the new lieutenant in town.

Elliot uses the hours to apply to her P.I. license (she would like to that is), but the closer she gets to the truth, the more treacherous her investigation becomes: a brutal attack on her own suspect and the murder of a witness.

This book is part of the Henery Press Mystery Series Collection, if you like one, you’ll probably like them all! BOARD STIFF is the first book in the Elliott Lisbon humorous mystery series. Bonus: Includes book club discussion questions.

My opinion of the book fluctuates; if you are a hard core mystery reader than this book is probably not for you. If you like cozy mysteries and want something fun to read, than this is your book. Throughout the whole book I wondered how this woman could run a foundation when she was clearly at everyone’s beck and call. Towards the end she seem to develop the backbone that was missing throughout the book. Again, it is well written and enjoyable , but I think I need to read this story in spurts.
